CAITLIN MINER
for 1ST VICE PRESIDENT - RUN OFF
Executive Board
OFFICE(S) HELD: Director of Programs (2017-present)
COMMITTEE INVOLVEMENT: Fundraising Silent Auction Chair (2018), Fundraising Logistics Chair (2017)
I believe the New Orleans hospitality industry is extremely competitive for advanced leadership positions, and I want to bring our membership to the forefront of any opportunities. I believe we can achieve this by continuing to offer cutting edge education and advancing certifications to our membership.
My greatest strength is I am enthusiastic about growing and engaging our membership. In my time as Director of Programs, I researched countless past surveys from our programs to see what our membership was looking for in terms of education. I believe I have been successful in engaging with membership to offer unique programs which has increased our overall average attendance for our monthly meetings. For the first time in over 10 years, I incorporated an awards format into our holiday party to recognize our membership. With the help of our board, we launched an advisory committee to assist with the selection process.
Since I have been in New Orleans, I have aligned my career objectives and goals with NACE and my employer. I have been fortunate to work for not 1-but 2 companies that have been extremely involved and supportive of NACE. In the past two and a half years I have attended the NACE National Conference (Experience), Catersource, Wedding MBA and NACE Evolve (Leadership), which has put me strategically in line with obtaining my CPCE in 2019.
In addition, I have increased our presence on social media (Instagram) to grow our followership from 120 to over 600 followers in 9 months by increasing member engagement. I know that NACE is all about the members and that is who I want to serve - OUR MEMBERS
Area for improvement: I am passionate about increasing educational and vocational opportunities with our membership by driving the CPCE certification, because it provides a comprehensive education and standard that helps all vendors in our industry raise the bar and share knowledge. I am not currently certified, and I am taking the steps to gain my certification in 2019.
I feel that the three most important areas to address during my NACE tenure are to
Engagement and recognize members
Increase educational opportunities including certifications
Increase ROI (members using members)
I am dedicated to promoting career success and advancement for you-our members. In the next two years as Vice President, I envision us offering the industry’s best educational programs, career opportunities, CPCE professional certification, networking opportunities, recognition and awards program, and a chance to increase our overall participation at the National Experience Conference.
I wish to increase the overall awareness and promotion of NACE to our local business community to encourage more lateral partnerships and enhance business opportunities for our members. I would seek to do this by getting NACE involved with the Chamber of Commerce, New Orleans & Company, NOTMC as well as increased community involvement.
I believe by connecting our members with additional resources we can increase the value of their membership to their employer, and establish a presence that NACE members are the ones that should be hired.
I think we have a little ways to go in actively engaging our membership with all the facets of our fast paced organization. I would like to make it my mission as Vice President to successfully engage our members in their different areas of expertise, and assist in showing them the many ways they can make a difference in making our chapter the best events based association in NOLA.
